BHGS believes that every pupil is entitled to the education that is most appropriate to her ability and best suited to her strengths and needs
The aim of the 学习支持 Faculty is therefore to coordinate and assist teachers in the provision of support for individuals, groups and classes so that the most appropriate education can be provided for all pupils. In particular, we aim to improve and embed basic skills in literacy and numeracy, and develop independence and personal skills for study and for life.
We have a team of 学习 Support Assistants who provide in-class support across the school. This can greatly assist pupils in their learning by helping them to organise their work and their thoughts, enabling further explanations with more levels of questioning, and ensuring that pupils are prompted to produce the best work that they can. The team also deliver booster sessions and catch-up groups at Key Stage 3. One third of their timetable is taken for cover supervisory work. In this way they get to know the subject curriculums well and can link students’ learning outside of the classroom to their mainstream work. The 学习支持 team runs the homework clubs for the whole school, a dedicated support club for students with SEND, as well as taking on duties and being involved with enrichment clubs
Literacy, including reading for meaning, and writing skills.
Numeracy, including skills for life as well as the development of all areas of understanding in Maths.
We deliver the Prince’s Trust Achieve Programme. This is a portfolio assessed set of activities under such headings as Independence, 健康y Lifestyle, Managing Money, and Community Project. This is a Level 2 assessment resulting in Certification.
The Prince’s Trust Achieve Programme
